Zap! Plasma skin tightening, brow lift and non-surgical eye lift blepharoplasty is a new and revolutionary treatment. Essence Medical Cosmetic Clinic is proud to be the first and only clinic in Scotland, and one of the first few in the UK to offer this exciting treatment.

This innovative technology utilises plasma - formed through ionisation of atmospheric gasses - to stimulate instant contraction and tightening of skin fibres. This technology does not use scalpel or laser to remove excess skin, thereby avoiding all risks inherent to the traditional intervention. The treatment is performed without cutting, burning or removing excess skin or fat.

The treatment is performed through minute spots made with the Plexr device at certain distance one from the other to stimulate instant contaction and tightening of skin fibres. Each of these spots sublimates the superficial corneocytes without affecting the basal laminae and without causing bleeding and more importantly without causing any damage to the surrounding tissue and the ones beneath.

A typical session will last no more than 30 minutes, although patients are required to attend the appointment an hour prior to the actual procedure to have topical numbing cream applied to the area to be treated. The mild crustations will fall off after 3 to 5 days. Most people see noticeable result after the first treatment although some may require more than one treatment and this is subject to your personal expectation. Patients may experience some swelling and mild discomfort in the treated area following your treatment and this may last up to three days. Any residual crustations will resolve within 5-7 days, but can be covered with liquid foundation. We will discuss your treatment and what you can expect during your consultation.

How does Zap! plasma skin tightening work?

Your consultation

It is compulsory for all our prospective patients to have a face-to-face consultation prior to making an appointment for this procedure. During the consultation, we will analyse your issues, examine your face and/or and discuss the range of treatment options available. There is absolutely no obligation at all for you to take up any treatment and the consultation may or may not lead to your having this treatment.

What areas can Zap! plasma skin tightening treat?

This treatment is carried out exclusively by our specialist cosmetic doctor, Dr Kieren Bong. Theoretically, this device can be used over the entire body for skin tightening, although at Essence Medical we use this device only for upper and lower eyelids tightening as well as brow lift. This is because we believe in offering our patients the best result and by sub-specialising in brow lift and non-surgical blepharoplasty, we can hone our skills and expertise in offering the safest and most effective results.

Before your Zap! plasma brow lift or eye lift blepharoplasty treatment

Before having your procedure you will attend an initial complimentary consultation with our specialist cosmetic doctor. At your consultation you can discuss all aspects of the procedure so you can decide if this treatment is the right treatment for you, where upon our cosmetic doctor will decide if you are suitable to have this treatment. This free assessment usually takes around 40 minutes. Please note that you will not be able to have the treatment on the same visit as your consultation.

During your Zap! plasma brow lift or eye lift blepharoplasty treatment

Treatment takes around 30-40 minutes depending on the area(s) of the face being treated. You are required to attend the clinic an hour prior to your actual treatment so as topical numbing can be applied to the area to be treated to minimise the risk of discomfort during the procedure.

After your Zap! plasma brow lift or blepharoplasty treatment

Immediately after treatment the treated area(s) will be quite red and mildly swollen. Mild crustations/discoloration will be seen in the treated area(s). Swelling may intensify over the following few hours and may last 2-3 days. The crustations/discoloration should resolve within 5-7 days. Make-up or liquid foundation may be applied the following day. You will be provided some medications to help with the swelling and discomfort. Results are seen instantly after the treatment, although this gradually improves over the course of the following 2-4 weeks.

How do I maximise the effects of my Zap! plasma treatment?

Although the crustations/discoloration may be rubbed off immediately after the treatment, we advise this is kept intact for 5-7 days. To maximise the effects of your Plexr brow lift and non-surgical blepharoplasty, we recommend you take the following aftercare steps: • Avoid applying any cosmetics until the following morning. • Avoid all direct sources of heat i.e. sun, UV radiation, saunas etc for two weeks. • Be extra cautious to not rub off the crustations/discoloration for the first 5-7 days. • Apply anti-histamine eye cream/serum in treated area(s) three times daily. • Topical steroid cream may be provided for you. Use this according to instructions. Results may vary as each individual is different.

What are the side effects?

Swelling may intensify over the following few hours and may last 2-3 days. The crustations/discoloration should resolve within 5-7 days. Make-up or liquid foundation may be applied the following day. What can I expect to see after my first treatment and how long will it take for me to start noticing the effects?

Results are seen instantly after the treatment, although this gradually improves over the course of the following 2-4 weeks.

How soon will I see my results?

Results are seen instantly after the treatment, although this gradually improves over the course of the following 2-4 weeks.

How long will the effect of the treatment last?

The treatment stimulates instant contraction and shortening of skin fibres and this process continues to take effect in the first 2-4 weeks. The effect of the treatment is subjective to number of treatments and your ageing process, but typically may last a few years. You will age as you would otherwise and your skin will continue to lengthen and relax as part of the ageing process. We recommend repeat treatment 12 months after the initial procedure.

How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments required will vary according to severity of the laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual's physiological response to the treatmemt. Our specialist cosmetic doctor has extensive experience in this treatment and is one of the few doctors in Europe to use the advanced technique and protocol for maximum results. Our patients have seen superior results compared to other practitioners which only offer basic treatment protocol. Most of our patients see results instantly and this continues to improve over the course of the following 2-4 weeks. You may wish to have further treatment to get better result, although it is unusual for anyone to require more than two treatments. Should you wish to have second treatment, this should be carried out at 6-8 weekly intervals.

Is Zap! plasma brow lift and non-surgical eye lift blepharoplasty safe?

Plexr™ (the name of the device) is very safe with full European CE approval. To date, about 1700 Plexr devices have been sold worldwide. Only doctors who have received special training are authorized to perform this treatment. Dr Bong is widely recognised as one of Europe's top cosmetic doctors and he is one of the only small number of doctors in Europe who has the experience and skills to offer the advanced technique and protocol for a more effective result.

Is Zap! plasma treatment right for me?

If you are frustrated by the loose skin in your upper and/or lower eyelids or heaviness of your eye brows and seeking a non-surgical, virtually pain-free solution to skin tightening and brow lift, then the Plexr plasma brow lift and non-surgical eye lift blepharoplasty could be your answer. We encourage all our prospective patients to make an appointment for a face-to-face consultation so as we can advise if you are a good candidate for this treatment .

What can I expect from my consultation and will I have treatment the same day as my consultation?

You are required to have a face-to-face consultation prior to having the treatment with our specialist cosmetic doctor, Dr Kieren Bong. In the consultation he will examine the areas you wish treated. Dr Bong will then offer you a treatment plan and quote you a price. He will also discuss in detail the advantages and limitations of this treatment and give you an idea how many sessions you will require to see the best result. Unfortunately, you will not be able to have the treatment on the same visit. However, if you are travelling from a distance, please do let us know in advance so we can try to accommodate your circumstances.

How much does the treatment cost?

Dr Bong is one of the only small number of doctors in Europe who has the experience and skills to offer the advanced technique and protocol. The cost of your Plexr treatment depends on the size of the area(s) and the area(s) of the face being treated and the number of areas you wish to treat in one treatment session. The cost for upper eyelid treatment typically starts from £350 per treatment for both sides and if you have both the upper and lower eyelids treated in one treatment session, this will cost only a total of between £450-£500. After your consultation, you will be required to pay a deposit to secure an appointment for the treatment. This deposit is non-refundable and your appointment non-changeable. The exact cost of your treatment will be advised following your free consultation.

I always feel a million dollars when I've been to see you!...
