This week we managed to get some precious time with Dr Bong, the leading aesthetic doctor, to gain his insights on a commonly asked question in the realm of aesthetic medicine – “How often should you get Botox and Fillers?”
We all aspire to retain the youthful, almost timeless look that Botox and fillers can provide. They spruce up our skincare regimen and are a magic elixir for our ageing concerns. But like all good things, these require moderation too. Hence, we asked Dr Bong to share his professional opinion on their ideal usage.
Botox: The Sweet Spot
Botox is primarily used to relax the muscles, particularly those in the forehead area and around the eyes, thereby precluding the formation of wrinkles due to repetitive movement. Now, let’s get to the crux of it: How often can we use Botox?
Typically, Botox effects last around three to four months. But this is subjective and depends on factors such as your skin’s condition, age, gender, how often or consistent you have your Botox treatment repeated, lifestyle, etc. Therefore, I generally recommend a Botox application interval of about three to six months.
Let’s remember, though, that meticulous maintenance is the key to prolonged results. Hence, a regular and controlled Botox application is your go-to.
The Right Time for Fillers
Unlike Botox, dermal fillers are used to add volume, augment shape, or fill in wrinkles. They are exceptionally effective in treating areas like nasolabial folds (laugh lines), cheeks, and lips.
The longevity of filler effects depends on the type of filler and the application area. It varies largely from six months up to two years. Therefore, the time between filler sessions can range between six months to a year and even beyond for some.
I cannot stress enough the fact that every individual’s case is unique. Thus, your aesthetic doctor should assess your most suitable treatment plan.
Parting Thoughts
Remember, it’s essential to consult with your aesthetic doctor regularly to monitor your progress and carve out a tailored treatment plan to ensure optimal results. Just as one shoe size doesn’t fit everyone, there is no one-size-fits-all for aesthetic treatments.
While these are general guidelines, they may not apply to everyone equally. Some might require treatments more frequently, or some might need less. Aesthetic treatments aim to enhance your natural features and not transform you into someone else.
Love the skin you are in, and remember, aesthetics are more about feeling good than just merely looking good.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and please, feel free to drop any more queries you might have.
Have a radiant and youthful day!
