FACE PEEL

Chemical peel refers to the technique of improving the appearance of the facial skin using special chemical solutions.

These solutions gradually remove the outermost layer of the skin, which is affected by wear and tear and shows undesirable blemishes, wrinkles, or ugly pigmentation. The older skin, peeled off by the solutions, is replaced by naturally growing, younger, and smoother skin.

The active ingredient in this peel is Salicylic Acid – but how does it work to give you clearer skin?

Salicylic Acid is an oil-soluble ingredient, which means it will get deep into your pores, clean them out and improve your overall complexion.
This peel is ideal for anyone that wants to reduce sun damage, blemishes, pigmentation and fine lines. It is designed to make your skin tighter, brighter and smoother after just one treatment.

This peel is also great for people who are prone to breakouts. Every spot starts with a comedone (blackhead). This peel is so effective, especially at treating acne, because it tackles the problem at its origin. By starving the acne of its fuel, this peel removes comedones, deep-cleanses pores and provides an anti-bacterial action.

Each Essence Superficial Peel treatment lasts approximately 20 minutes.
Your skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepared with a medicated solution that removes oil from the skin, followed by the first layer of peel solution.
There is a mild-moderate feeling of heat and tingling for about 30-60 seconds after the peel solution is applied. However, it does pass and is not painful at all. A second layer of the peel solution is then applied and left on your skin for a few minutes.

When the few minutes are up, a neutralising solution is applied. Finally, a high-factor sun block is applied to your skin before you leave.

Immediately after your treatment, you should notice that your skin looks younger, smoother and tighter. These results will continue to improve for the next 7 to 10 days, after which your skin should be completely healed again. You should notice an improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots, and pore size. You will also see that the texture and tone of your skin is improved.

After a week, your skin will appear clearer, smoother, brighter and more radiant. Congestion will be reduced, and blackheads will reduce too.

Though just one treatment yields noticeable results, a series of 4-6 treatments will give your skin the best results possible.

After your treatment, you will need to care for your skin to maximise and maintain results. The most important thing to remember after any chemical peel is to wear sun protection (SPF 30/50) at all times.
Avoiding direct sun exposure is advised, as too much exposure may cause improper healing and sometimes reverse the peel’s benefits.
Treat the skin gently. Do not exfoliate, even though you may experience mildly dry, red or flaking skin for a few days after your peel. Do not pick at peeling skin. The dead skin will naturally slough off. Also, avoid alpha- and beta- hydroxy acid products, retinol and facial products containing fragrance for three days after the peel.

Although vibrant and rejuvenated skin will appear with your first application, a series of 4-6 peels may be required to achieve your ultimate skin reconditioning goals.

Dr Bong will carefully analyse the number of peels necessary to achieve the desired results. In most cases, 1-3 Essence Superficial Peel treatments will achieve dramatic results in many skin conditions. Each peel can be performed in two to three weeks until you have reached your ultimate goals.

There is hardly any downtime. Your skin feels a little tight, and some small areas of more sensitive skin can become a little red for up to a day. If you experience localised reddening, then this skin patch will become a little flaky for a day or so, but a good moisturiser and a little foundation will not sort out.

The treatment isn’t recommended to be done before going away on a sunny holiday. This is because exfoliating the top layer of skin exposes the baby-young epidermis below, leaving skin more photo-sensitive and prone to burning and sun damage.

Late arrival to your appointment may result in reduced treatment time or the forfeiting of the appointment. We will endeavour to ensure that your appointment runs on time. However, for reasons beyond our control, we may need to cancel or postpone your appointment at short notice. In this unlikely event, we will try to contact you in advance. We do not offer compensation if we cancel or postpone your appointment.
