Soften smoker's lines with dermal filler

Treatment for smoker’s lines with dermal filler

You may have been wondering, ‘what can I do to get rid of my smoker’s lines’ or ‘how do I avoid puffiness with dermal filler for smoker’s lines?’.

These vertical lines always begin as fine lines that deepen over time. You might not even notice them at first, but they gradually become more noticeable as they deepen and your skin ages.

What surprises many of my patients is that non-smokers get these lines too. These lines are often called ‘smoker’s lines’ because they are commonly found in smokers. They tend to be deeper and more ingrained in smokers too. While these vertical lines may develop earlier in smokers, everyone tends to get them in time.

Many of my patients are not aware that smokers’ lines can be treated rather easily with dermal filler and WITHOUT any PUFFINESS.

It is understandable that many of my patients are worried about having dermal filler in this area because we have seen too many cases of women looking ‘puffed up’ above their top lip. This is mostly due to injectors who lack the necessary experience, using dermal filler to puff up the skin in this area which, in turn, stretches the lines. These lines may seem softer, but the area also looks swollen.

Many don’t realise that while these lines may be confined to a localised area above the top lip, this ‘small problem’ can have a detrimental effect on your overall appearance. This is especially likely over the medium-longer term when they deepen into ‘fissures’. When that happens, they are visible in nearly every facial expression – even smiling.

The good news is, IN THE RIGHT HANDS, they CAN be treated successfully IF you get to them early enough, AND they can be softened WITHOUT puffiness!

PREVENTION – and EARLY TREATMENT – get you far better results than waiting until they are too deep.

Unfortunately, if not treated in time, these lines can continue to deepen and can become virtually impossible to treat, giving a prematurely aged appearance to your face.

The filler I use in this area does not give any volume, especially when it is injected with my technique. Depending on the severity of the lines, most people require only one treatment session to achieve a noticeable improvement.
