Understanding the Basics: Botox, Fillers, and Phenol Peels

Essence Medical is recognised as a leading aesthetic clinic renowned for offering various non-surgical treatments and we are frequently approached by clients who have little if any understanding of what some of the more common treatments are suitable for.  If this is you, read on as this update is designed to provide a foundational understanding of three popular treatments: Botox, Fillers, and Phenol Peels.

Botox

Botox, or Botulinum toxin, is a purified protein that is used to temporarily relax facial muscles that cause lines and wrinkles. It can also be used to treat medical conditions such as hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

Benefits of Botox

  • Reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
  • Prevents new lines from forming.
  • Non-surgical and minimally invasive.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are used to add volume, alter the contours of the face, and fill in wrinkles. Most dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that can retain 1000x its weight in water. This makes it an excellent skin plumper.

Benefits of Dermal Fillers

  • Adds volume and smoothness to the skin.
  • Can be used to enhance facial features such as lips and cheekbones.
  • Long-lasting results.

Phenol Peels

Phenol peels are a type of chemical peel that removes damaged outer layers of skin to reveal smoother, younger-looking skin beneath. Phenol peels are the strongest type of chemical peel and can treat deep facial wrinkles, areas of blotchy or damaged skin, and pigmentations or age spots.

Benefits of Phenol Peels

  • Rejuvenates and smooths the skin.
  • Reduces the appearance of scars and wrinkles.
  • Can help prevent future skin damage.

These treatments offer a non-surgical alternative to traditional cosmetic procedures, allowing for quick results with minimal recovery time. During your consultation Dr Kieren Bong will advise on the most suitable treatment for you, ensuring your journey towards enhanced natural beauty is safe, effective, and tailored to your individual needs.
