A proper brow lift is also called ‘forehead lift’, a surgical procedure involving physically lifting the forehead muscles and skin and raising the brows in the process. This invasive procedure is carried out under general anaesthetics and is associated with prolonged downtime.

A botox brow lift is a non-surgical treatment and can achieve a similar effect in a suitable candidate. It gives a temporary lift to the eyebrows through strategic injections of Botox. We selectively relax the relevant muscles which drag the brows down, which creates a muscular imbalance, allowing the forehead muscles to pull the brows upward unchecked.

Some muscles pull the eyebrows down, and some pull the brows up. These muscle groups work against each other, resulting in the height and contour of your existing eyebrows.

The frown muscles between your brows (which causes the vertical lines colloquially called ‘the 11s’) are depressors of the inner part of your eyebrows. If you frown and look in the mirror, you will see how the inner brows move inward and down.

The lateral portion of the eyebrows is held downward by a muscle called Orbicularis Oculi. This circular muscle goes around the eye and gives us crow’s feet when we smile. Relaxing specific parts of this muscle, which pulls down the arch and outer corner of the brow, lets the arch float upwards. In other words, when we perform Botox brow lift injections, we inject Botox® in muscles which pull the eyebrows down, which, in turn, allows the upward-pulling muscles to do their job unopposed.

Not everyone is a suitable candidate for a Botox® brow lift. Unlike Botox® for wrinkle reduction, this procedure relies on a few specific factors.

As discussed above, Botox® weakens brow depressors, allowing brow lifters to do their job without having to work against those depressors. What if you do not have a strong lifter muscle (called the frontalis)? What if your muscles are not very powerful and cannot pull your eyebrows up much, even when unopposed?

Or what if the height of your eyebrows is so low and your brows so flat that your lifter muscles (frontalis) cannot work hard enough to get them up where you want them?

This is why not everyone is a suitable candidate for this treatment, and we advise you to have a face-to-face consultation with our cosmetic doctor before the treatment. The success rate of this treatment is, by no means, 100%, and our cosmetic doctor will advise you if you will likely see the desired results. Adding more Botox® will not fix either of the above problems. And this is when a surgical brow lift might be a more suitable option for you.

Botox® brow lift is one of our most popular treatments. Currently, the popular shape of the brows is arched and lifted. This gives our patients a more rested and rejuvenated appearance. It also helps improve the appearance of hooded upper eyelids.

The rising demand for non-surgical cosmetic procedures has increased the number of people offering ‘Botox treatment’ and other treatments at incredibly low prices. Whilst this might sound like good news for you. Unfortunately, it is far from it.

Non-surgical cosmetic procedures are costly for excellent reasons. The expense involved in using quality products, providing exceptional service and meeting the necessary safety requirements is significant. To meet these costs, quality practitioners have to set their prices accordingly.
To offer ‘cheap Botox’, these practitioners are unlikely to invest in any of the above. When offering cheap treatments, the cost of provision must be minimal to profit.

This treatment is unique to each individual, depending upon various factors. Dr Bong is one of the only few cosmetic doctors in Scotland with the experience and skills to offer the advanced Botox® brow lift technique. Many practitioners who lack the skills and expertise offer this treatment for less.

To get an exact costing, please schedule a consultation with Dr Bong for him to design a bespoke treatment approach and address any concerns that you have. However, as discussed above, we must weaken all the depressor muscles to allow the lifter muscles to do their job unopposed. This is why we recommend that you have Botox® in all three areas: the forehead, frown and crow’s feet. As a guide, costs will be around £270 for this procedure, and this price also includes, where indicated, a review appointment at 2-4 weeks after the treatment.

Cheap (and fake) ‘Botox’ is freely available online, often from China, where there are no manufacturing standards. Purchasing cosmetic products from outside the UK may be illegal. The only way for an injector to know that a product is authentic and approved by the UK health authority (MHRA) is to order it directly from the manufacturer or an authorised distributor. These imports faceless government scrutiny than those that have met the strict requirements of MHRA.

Anything imported illegally and bypassing the authorised supply chain means we have no idea how it was handled, transported, or stored. And when improperly held, the products can degrade and lose their efficacy.

The first rule is not to go to cheap or unqualified practitioners as the injectors may cut corners. Practitioners who do not invest in research, training, the environment they work in, care standards, and protection should things go wrong are an accident waiting to happen. There are risks involved in non-surgical cosmetic procedures, and side effects and complications are more likely to occur without the necessary safeguards. Some cut-rate injectors operate by doing work at or below cost in the hope that you will stay on later at the total price. But others curb their losses by overly diluting the products, minimising their effect.

It is not advisable to have Botox® injections when pregnant because there have been no large-scale, long-term studies to assess the effect Botox® has on a developing baby. However, as the amount of Botox® administered is small, localised and will not easily move to other areas of the body once injected, the risk of it harming your baby is minimal.
